Previously, we discussed the advantages of using an electric toothbrush. We will now examine the disadvantages of using an electric toothbrush:

* Cost

Electric Toothbrushes are more expensive than manual toothbrushes. On walmart online, electric toothbrushes range from USD$4 - $400 while manual toothbrushes start off from USD$0.60. The price difference does not include the cost of batteries, resulting in the price of electric toothbrushes being significantly higher than manual toothbrushes. Also, the toothbrush heads have to be replaced, resulting in additional cost incurred.

* Sensitive Teeth

Electric toothbrushes may not be the most ideal for sensitive teeth if the toothbrush bristles are not soft.

* Size

Because electric toothbrushes are battery-powered, they tend to be bigger in size than manual toothbrushes. This may not be travel-friendly.
