Dr Chua attended dental school at the National University of Singapore and graduated in 1985 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. She completed her Residency in Orthodontics at the New York University College of Dentistry, United States of America in 1991. Dr Chua has been in the exclusive practice of Orthodontics since.

With over 25 years of Orthodontic practice, Dr Chua is highly skilled in treating malocclusions (crooked teeth). She believes in dentofacial orthopedic (jaw modification in a growing child) in order to avoid or minimize the need for orthognathic surgery.
Her research paper "The effects of extractions versus non-extraction orthodontic treatment on the growth of the lower anterior face height" was published in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, 1993 104: 361-368.
Dr Chua not only believes in well-aligned teeth to have a beautiful smile and an aesthetic facial profile but also believes in good functional occlusion (proper fit of upper and lower posterior teeth) for stability.
